More a Transcription App than a Pronunciation App
This app has a very specific purpose: making the connection between phonemic transcriptions (using the International Phonetic Alphabet) and spelling and sound at the word level. While it is great to see both American and British English included in one app, the learner must accept that practice and quiz sections will only accept one transcription (even if the word has variable pronunciation with alternate transcriptions). The central pronunciation chart has a few technical flaws but is still quite usable once you get used to it. This could be a useful tool for the student of phonetics and phonology seeking practice with transcription. As a pronunciation training tool, it is less promising due its lack of description of articulatory features and being limited to single word utterances.
